A recent “2014 American E-Cigarette Etiquette Survey” conducted by Harris Interactive and sponsored by Mistic ecigs revealed that nearly two-thirds of Americans (63%) accept others vaping next to them. What the Purpose:
The survey was an effort by Mistic to learn more about consumer behavior and take the industry lead when it comes to gauging the attitude of Americans toward e-cigarettes.
How Many People Involved
1,011 adults were telephoned.
“If someone was using an electronic cigarette in close proximity to you, would it bother you?”
“whether they would approve or disapprove of e-cigarette use at certain public places that typically ban smoking of traditional tobacco cigarettes.”
Support of public vaping:
- General Public: 63%
- At sporting events: 58%
- At shopping malls: 47%
- At restaurants and bars: 45%
- In offices building: 35%
- On public transportation: 35%
- In movie theaters: 29%
- On airplanes: 26%
Sex, Generation and Income Divides:
Men are more tolerant of e-cig use in their vicinity: 71% compared to 55%.
At a restaurant or bar: 52%(Men) VS 38%(Women)
At shopping mall: 58%(Men) VS 38%(Women)
At sporting event: 65%(Men) VS 51%(Women)
Young Men are more open for the use of electronic cigarettes than old men: 70% compared to 46%.
